Gustorzyn – Wronów gas pipeline ready for construction

GAZ-SYSTEM has obtained a complete set of building permits for the Gustorzyn – Wronów gas pipeline. The first civil and erection works will begin soon.

The Gustorzyn – Wronów gas pipeline with a diameter of 1,000 mm and total length of 308 km will cross the territory of 33 communes in four voivodships: Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Łódzkie, Mazowieckie and Lubelskie.

Due to the scale and complexity of the project, during its implementation the company was granted a total of 10 building permits, which were issued by the Governor of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodship, the Governor of the Łódzkie Voivodship, the Governor of the Mazowieckie Voivodship and the Governor of the Lubelskie Voivodship.

Construction of the Gustorzyn – Wronów gas pipeline will increase the network's capacity and the possibilities of balancing and controlling the gas stream in central Poland. At the same time, it will significantly improve the security of gas supply to Warsaw, Łódź, Radom and the south-eastern regions of the country - said Tomasz Stępień, President of the Management Board of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.

Construction has been divided into three stages to be executed simultaneously:

  • stage I: Gustorzyn – Leśniewice, 54 km long
  • stage II: Leśniewice – Rawa Mazowiecka, 100 km long
  • stage III: Rawa Mazowiecka – Wronów, 154 km long.

The investment is planned to be completed in the 4th quarter of 2023.

A significant benefit for the communes and local communities along the route of this investment will be the annual real property tax paid by GAZ-SYSTEM in the amount of up to 2% of the value of the transmission infrastructure under construction. This is a sum that will regularly contribute to the budget and that can be allocated for the needs of the local communities.

GAZ-SYSTEM is a strategic company for the Polish economy. It is responsible for the transmission of natural gas, manages the most important gas pipelines in Poland and owns the President Lech Kaczyński LNG Terminal in Świnoujście.

As part of the 2015-2025 investment programme, GAZ-SYSTEM is constructing over 2000 km of new gas pipelines in the western, southern and eastern parts of Poland. Over a dozen new gas pipelines are under construction within the North-South Gas Corridor and the compressor station in Kędzierzyn Koźle, as well as interconnections with Lithuania and Slovakia. Onshore gas pipelines are planned to connect the planned FSRU floating terminal in the Gulf of Gdansk with the national transmission system. The LNG Terminal in Świnoujście is also being extended, as a result of which the regasification capacity of this facility will be increased by more than a half.

The company is also implementing one of the most important infrastructural projects in the country - the Baltic Pipe project which consists in the construction of a two-way offshore gas pipeline connecting Poland and Denmark, expansion of the local transmission network and three gas compressor stations.
