GAZ-SYSTEM informs about completion of the procedure initiated in 2019 for incremental capacity at the market area border between Poland (E-Gas Transmission System) and Germany (Trading Hub Europe) (INCREMENTAL 2019-2021)

GAZ-SYSTEM informs that in the annual auction for incremental capacities at the market area border between Poland (E-Gas Transmission System) and Germany (Trading Hub Europe), which took place on 5 July 2021, GAZ-SYSTEM and ONTRAS offered the bundled Offer Level of freely allocable incremental capacity (FZK/firm) at IP GCP GAZ-SYSTEM/ONTRAS for the transmission  direction from Poland to Germany.

No amount of abovementioned incremental capacity was booked by any market participant in the annual auction and therefore the economic test ended with a negative result on both sides of the Polish-German border.

According to Art. 22(3) of CAM NC in case no offer level results in a positive outcome of the economic test, the specific incremental capacity process shall be terminated.

The procedure was carried out in accordance with the Regulation (EU) 2017/459 (CAM NC)  and on the basis of approval of the incremental capacity project made by decisions of the respective national regulatory authorities (decision of the President of the Polish Energy Regulatory Office No. DRR.WRG.748.9.2020.ABu1 on 29 April 2021 for Poland and decision no. BK9-20/008 on 29 April 2021 by Federal Network Agency for Germany).

GAZ-SYSTEM is a strategic company for the Polish economy. It is responsible for the transmission of natural gas, manages the most important gas pipelines in Poland and owns the President Lech Kaczyński LNG Terminal in Świnoujście.

As part of the 2015-2025 investment programme, GAZ-SYSTEM is constructing over 2000 km of new gas pipelines in the western, southern and eastern parts of Poland. Over a dozen new gas pipelines are under construction within the North-South Gas Corridor and the compressor station in Kędzierzyn Koźle, as well as interconnections with Lithuania and Slovakia. Onshore gas pipelines are planned to connect the planned FSRU floating terminal in the Gulf of Gdansk with the national transmission system. The LNG Terminal in Świnoujście is also being extended, as a result of which the regasification capacity of this facility will be increased by more than a half.

The company is also implementing one of the most important infrastructural projects in the country - the Baltic Pipe project which consists in the construction of a two-way offshore gas pipeline connecting Poland and Denmark, expansion of the local transmission network and three gas compressor stations.
