GAZ-SYSTEM invites all interested parties to get yourself familiarised with the information materials about the FSRU

What is being surveyed is the market demand for the use of new transmission capacities in connection with the construction of a new LNG Terminal (FSRU) within the Gulf of Gdańsk. Market participants shall submit their questionnaires until 28 of September, this year. We have prepared some information materials about the procedure and the terminal – we encourage you to have a look at them.

GAZ-SYSTEM would like to remind you about the ongoing, non-binding market survey for new transmission capacity in the National Transmission System related to the construction of a new LNG Terminal (FSRU) in the Gdańsk area, along with its integration with the transmission system by creating a Physical Entry Point from the LNG Terminal to the National Transmission System. Questionnaires may be filed until 28 of September 28, this year.  The survey’s results will be used by the Operator during the project parameterisation process, by dint of which the participants' questionnaires, submitted as part of the procedure, may exert a direct impact on the shape of the Polish natural gas market.

In connection with the survey carried out, GAZ-SYSTEM has prepared a set of video materials devoted to the procedure of market survey under conduct, as well as to plans for the expansion of the National Transmission System and the role of transmission infrastructure in the process of energy transformation.
The materials we have prepared are also to present key information on the global LNG market, the design and operational safety of LNG terminals, as well as the assumptions for the expansion of the LNG terminal in Świnoujście and the plan to build a floating LNG terminal in the Gulf of Gdańsk area. As part of the survey, it is possible to file a non-binding demand for:

  • Capacity at the Physical Entry Point from the LNG Terminal (FPWEOIR) to the National Transmission System, expressed in kWh/h;
  • Average Regasification Capacity, expressed in kWh/h along with additional information on the planned annual number of LNG supplies/number of vessel calls and the Contracted Capacity;
  • Capacity at Physical Exit Points (supplementary, non-obligatory information), expressed in kWh/h;
  • additional services rendered at the LNG Terminal (supplementary, non-obligatory information): extended process storage, reloading into smaller units, bunkering;
  • predicted LNG qualitative parameters (supplementary, non-obligatory information).

At the same time, we would like to draw your attention that under the non-binding market survey procedure for new transmission capacity in the National Transmission System (NTS) related to the construction of a new LNG terminal (FSRU) in the Gdańsk area, the capacity of entering the transmission system at the Physical Entry Point from the LNG Terminal to the National Transmission System should equal the contracted capacity. Therefore, the capacity at the Entry Point to the NTS will correspond to the contracted regasification capacity (at the exit point from the LNG Terminal). Given the foregoing, the information presented in item and of the Procedure Questionnaire should be convergent.

In addition, as part of the survey, the Users may also indicate whether or not the quantities entered at the entry point from the planned terminal (entirety or a specific part) will be taken from the transmission system at one of the Physical Exit Points (on the existing or planned connections with the transmission systems of neighbouring countries) by providing the expected capacity values at these points. Failure to point out the expected demand for interconnection capacity will indicate that the quantities received from the planned terminal will either be intended for final customers in the country or for sale at a virtual point.

The LNG Terminal at the Port of Gdansk was entered, in 2020, in the fourth list of investments that was granted the status of Projects of Common Interest (PCI) in the energy sector. PCI projects represent key infrastructure projects, serving the purpose of increasing the level of security on the European energy market. GAZ-SYSTEM is a strategic company for the Polish economy. It is responsible for the transmission of natural gas, manages the most important gas pipelines in Poland and owns the President Lech Kaczyński LNG Terminal in Świnoujście.

As part of the 2015-2025 investment programme, GAZ-SYSTEM is constructing over 2000 km of new gas pipelines in the western, southern and eastern parts of Poland. Over a dozen new gas pipelines are under construction within the North-South Gas Corridor and the compressor station in Kędzierzyn Koźle, as well as interconnections with Lithuania and Slovakia. Onshore gas pipelines are planned to connect the planned FSRU floating terminal in the Gulf of Gdansk with the national transmission system. The LNG Terminal in Świnoujście is also being extended, as a result of which the regasification capacity of this facility will be increased by more than a half.

The company is also implementing one of the most important infrastructural projects in the country - the Baltic Pipe project which consists in the construction of a two-way offshore gas pipeline connecting Poland and Denmark, expansion of the local transmission network and three gas compressor stations.
