GAZ-SYSTEM preparing land for the Baltic Pipe in Denmark and Poland

In March preparation works started near the Danish coast to relocate the roads within the site where the Baltic Pipe will be connected to the onshore section. The construction site at the Niechorze - Płoty section in Poland is ready.

Soon roads within the investment site in Denmark will be relocated. The contractor will reconstruct the layout of two local roads running withing the landing site of the Baltic Pipe in Denmark. One of them will become an access road to the construction site. The other one will be used to change the organisation of traffic for the duration of construction works to make sure it is safe and as much collision-free as possible for the local residents.

In Poland the work so far has been carried out on land managed by Gryfice forest division and within the site managed by the Maritime Office in Szczecin. The scope of works covers: future construction site, a gas pipe tunnel bypassing the beach as well as valuable natural cliffs and dunes, part of the site designated to the section of the gas pipeline connecting the offshore gas pipeline with the Gas Transmission System.

GAZ-SYSTEM plays a strategic role in the Polish economy. We are responsible for natural gas transmission and operate the most important gas pipelines in Poland. As part of the 2015-2025 investment programme, GAZ-SYSTEM plans to build over 2000 km of new gas pipelines in western, southern and eastern parts of Poland. Further development of the national transmission network, including the construction of new gas pipelines making part of the North-South Gas Corridor, as well as the construction of interconnections with the neighbouring countries, will strengthen Poland’s energy security and make an important contribution to the development of the European transmission system.

The Company is implementing one of the most important infrastructural projects in Poland – the Baltic Pipe project, which consists in the construction of a bidirectional offshore gas pipeline connecting Poland and Denmark and the expansion of the local transmission network.

GAZ-SYSTEM also owns Polskie LNG, the operator of the President Lech Kaczyński's LNG Terminal in Świnoujście.
