GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is continuing its dialogue with contractors of construction works

GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is continuing its dialogue with the market of potential construction works contractors in order to build a responsible supply chain based on good long-term relations with potential trading partners.

As part of the open dialogue with the market, we hereby declare that we expect to introduce the requirement for contractors of construction works who develop investments which are strategic for GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. with regard to the construction of gas pipelines to employ a recognized welding technology. This requirement is related to GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.’s extensive investment plan regarding the expansion of the transmission system in the coming years and the major emphasis that we are placing on quality and punctuality of the work performed.

The requirement we have set will apply to the admission of contractors to proceedings if they have:

  • appropriate knowledge and, in particular, pipe welding technology which is recognized by the Office of Technical Inspection (UDT) with regard to pipes made of steel of appropriate wall gauge and appropriate outer diameter,
  • appropriate technical potential, in particular, at least 6 sets of equipment for mechanized circumferential welding of pipes of an appropriate diameter (DN 700 or DN 1000) and employ the technology for welding using this method which is recognized by the UDT.

As a result of this requirement, we are offering support to contractors who in the future intend to apply for the opportunity to perform construction works for GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. involving the construction of gas pipelines of a diameter of DN 700 and larger, in obtaining the materials required for the development of welding technology. Therefore, we would ask all the above contractors to report their requirements if they are interested in GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.’s help in purchasing DN 1000 pipes with a wall gauge of 22.2 mm, made of L485ME, in accordance with PN-EN ISO 3183, for developing the welding technology.

Please send your requests to dominik.sobanski@gaz-system.pl no later than by 15 January 2015, with the following information:

  1. whether you are interested in GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.’s help in buying DN1000 pipes with a wall gauge of 22.2 mm made of L485ME in accordance with PN-EN ISO 3183 for developing the welding technology;
  2. if so, what quantity of these pipes [m] you are interested in and to which address the pipes should be delivered;
  3. if you are not interested in buying pipes with GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.’s help, we would be grateful if you could inform us whether and in what manner you intend to acquire the materials for developing the welding technology.

Please also note that period indicative notice no. 2014/S 249-443368 was published in the Official Journal of the EU on 27 December 2014 on the planned start of award procedure with respect to “Construction of the DN 1000 MOP 8.4 MPa Lwówek – Odolanów gas pipeline, together with the necessary infrastructure for supporting it on the territory of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship, encompassing: Stage I – Lwówek – Krobia Pipeline 110 km, Stage II – Krobia – Odolanów Pipeline 55 km." The notice contains information on the planned requirements with regard to the welding technology.

GAZ-SYSTEM is a strategic company for the Polish economy. It is responsible for the transmission of natural gas, manages the most important gas pipelines in Poland and owns the President Lech Kaczyński LNG Terminal in Świnoujście.

As part of the 2015-2025 investment programme, GAZ-SYSTEM is constructing over 2000 km of new gas pipelines in the western, southern and eastern parts of Poland. Over a dozen new gas pipelines are under construction within the North-South Gas Corridor and the compressor station in Kędzierzyn Koźle, as well as interconnections with Lithuania and Slovakia. Onshore gas pipelines are planned to connect the planned FSRU floating terminal in the Gulf of Gdansk with the national transmission system. The LNG Terminal in Świnoujście is also being extended, as a result of which the regasification capacity of this facility will be increased by more than a half.

The company is also implementing one of the most important infrastructural projects in the country - the Baltic Pipe project which consists in the construction of a two-way offshore gas pipeline connecting Poland and Denmark, expansion of the local transmission network and three gas compressor stations.
