Compressor station at Kędzierzyn

Description of the Investment Project

The construction of the gas compressor station in Kędzierzyn-Koźle is one of the facility investments implemented as part of the North-South Gas Corridor in the area of south-west Poland. It will be the first gas compressor station in the Opolskie Voivodeship.
The task of the gas compressor station will be multidirectional compression of gas to the set pressure west, south and east. In the first stage, the compressor station will be equipped with three compressor units powered by gas turbines with a total capacity of 23 MW. Ultimately, it will be possible to expand the facility to six compressors with a total maximum power of 69 MW.

Investment stage

On February 15, 2019, a contract was concluded for the construction of a gas compressor station. The contractor for construction works is the consortium of companies: Rafako S.A. and PBG Oil and Gas Sp. z o.o.
The investor's supervision contractor is SGS Polska Sp. z o.o.
The contractor for design works and author's supervision is a consortium of companies composed of: Biuro Projektów "NAFTA-GAZ" Sp. z o.o. and Górnicze Biuro Projektów PANGAZ Sp. z o.o..
Completion of the investment is planned in 2021.

Investment location

The investment will be located in the municipality of Kędzierzyn - Koźle in the Opolskie Voivodeship.

Benefits of implementing the investment

The new compressor station will enable gas transmission to the western, southern and eastern regions of Poland, creating the possibility of receiving additional amounts of gas in these regions of the country, thus also contributing to the improvement of air quality.
Its location along the transmission pipelines constituting the North-South corridor will ensure stable transmission of natural gas, in particular new gas pipelines with a diameter of 1000 mm. From the west, the gas pipelines Zdzieszowice - Kędzierzyn-Koźle and Zdzieszowice - Wrocław are currently being built, and to the east - Tworóg - Kędzierzyn-Koźle and Tworóg - Tworzeń. It is also planned to connect the compressor station with the Kędzierzyn-Koźle - Poland border with the Czech Republic (Hat ') pipeline.
After commissioning, the compressor station will be one of the elements of reconstruction of the transmission system, enabling diversification of natural gas supply sources or integration with the European market. It will also create additional jobs during construction and later operation.
An important benefit for the commune will be local taxes paid annually by GAZ-SYSTEM.

Legal basis

The investment is implemented based on the provisions of the Act of 24 April 2009 on investments in the field of liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in Świnoujście (Journal of Laws of 2017, item 2302 - consolidated text, as amended). The project was entered into the catalog of investments accompanying investments in the terminal pursuant to the Act of 30 May 2014 amending the Act on investments in the field of liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in Świnoujście and the Real Estate Management Act (Journal of Laws of 2014, poz.906).

European Union Subsidies

The European Commission has granted financial support from the Connecting Europe Facility for the preparatory stage of a gas compressor station in Kędzierzyn-Koźle implemented as part of the Poland - Czech Republic interconnection project [Stork II] between Libhošť (CZ) - Hať (CZ-PL) - Kędzierzyn (PL )

Environmental decision

On 14 July 2016, the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Opole issued a Decision on environmental conditions for the project consisting in the construction of a gas compressor station Kędzierzyn - Koźle, decision mark: WOOŚ. 4210.3.2016.MSe.8.

Location decision

On 2 June 2017, the Opolskie Voivode issued a decision on determining the location of the investment in the scope of the liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in Świnoujście for the investment consisting in the construction of the Kędzierzyn-Koźle gas pipeline border of the Republic of Poland (Poland-Czech Republic) together with the compressor station and measuring station - construction of the Kędzierzyn gas compressor station Kid.

Building permit decision

On 11 August  2017, the Opolskie Voivode issued a decision No. 54 / D / 2017 approving the construction project and granting the building permit for the investment accompanying the investment in the scope of the regasification terminal of liquefied natural gas in Świnoujście "Construction of the Kędzierzyn-Koźle gas pipeline border between the Republic of Poland (Poland and the Czech Republic) together with the compressor station and measuring station - construction of the Kędzierzyn-Koźle gas compressor station, Stage 1".
