Lwówek-Odolanów gas pipeline
Description of the Investment
Basic investment parameters:
- High-pressure gas pipeline,
- Diameter: 1,000 mm,
- Operating pressure: 8.4 MPa,
- Length: approx. 168 km.
The investment was divided into two stages:
• 1st Stage covers the connection of Lwówek, Kotowo, and Krobia gas hubs (ca. 114 km).
• 2nd Stage covers the connection of Krobia and Odolanów gas hubs (ca. 54 km).
ILF Consulting Engineers Polska Sp. z o.o. is the contractor for the conceptual, construction, and detailed designs of the investment selected as a result of a public tender procedure.
In August 2015, the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Poznań issued an Environmental Decision for the investment consisting in the construction of the Lwówek – Odolanów gas pipeline together with the infrastructure necessary for its operation (decision ref. No. WOO 11.4203.3.2014.WM.30).
In December 2015, the design phase was completed, and a building permit was obtained.
In January 2017, GAZ-SYSTEM concluded contracts with contractors for both stages of construction works.
The consortium of PORR Polska Infrastructure S.A. and O.T. Industries-KVV Contractor CO LTD. is the EPC Contractor for the 1st stage of the investment.
The consortium of JT S.A. and IMP PROMONT d.o.o. is the EPC Contractor for the 2nd stage of the investment.
On 30 August 2018, the final acceptance of the 2nd stage of the Krobia – Odolanów gas pipeline took place at the original contractual deadline.
On 4 February 2019, Technical Acceptance of the 1st stage of the DN1000 Lwówek-Odolanów gas pipeline, running through the areas supervised by the Poznań Branch and constituting a connection between the Gas Transmission Hubs in Lwówek and Krobia. The acceptance covered:
- approximately 114 km of the DN 1000 gas pipeline with a fibre optic line,
- in-line shut off and relief valve systems with by-pass systems equipped with collectors enabling connection of new recipients in Opalenica, Kotowo, Kościan and Krzemieniewo towns,
- reconstructed transmission hubs in Lwówek and Krobia.
Location of the investment:
The investment is located in the Wielkopolska and Lower Silesia Voivodeships in the following municipalities and communes: Lwówek, Kuślin, Opalenica, Grodzisk Wielkopolski, Granowo, Kamieniec, Kościan, Krzywiń, Osieczna, Krzemieniewo, Poniec, Krobia, Pępowo, Kobylin, Zduny, Cieszków, Milicz, SulmIerzyce and Odolanów.
Legal basis
The investment is implemented on the basis of the provisions of the Act of 24 April 2009 on investments in the field of re-gasification terminal for liquefied natural gas in Świnoujście (Journal of Laws No. 84 item 700, as amended). The gas pipeline has been entered into the catalogue of investments accompanying investments in the terminal pursuant to the Act of 30 May 2014 amending the Act on investments in the field of re-gasification terminal for liquefied natural gas in Świnoujście and the Act on property management (Journal of Laws of 2014, item 906).
EU funding
The investment was co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment.
Within the scope of design documentation development, under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2007-2013. The amount of co-financing is PLN 3.59 million.
As regards the construction of the Lwówek-Odolanów gas pipeline, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. received co-financing from the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2014-2020 on 30 September 2016. The value of co-financing obtainable from the European Union funds has been determined at over PLN 365 million.
Project of Common Interest
In October 2013, the European Commission granted the investment the “Project of Common Interest” status. For more information on the importance of the PCI status for the development of gas transmission infrastructure, please see tab and the brochure dedicated to PCI projects. If the additional requirements are met, it will also be possible to grant EU funding under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), which will be in force in the European Union’s budgetary perspective for the years 2014-2020.

In 7 August 2015, the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Poznań issued an Environmental Decision for the investment consisting in the construction of the Lwówek – Odolanów gas pipeline together with the infrastructure necessary for its operation (decision ref.
