Czeszów-Wierzchowice
Project description
The project objective was to build a gas pipeline Czeszów – Wierzchowice of a length of approximately 14 km and a diameter of 1000 mm. On August 2016 a building permit was obtained for the pipeline and on February 2016 construction began.
The investment closing ceremony took place on September 12, 2017.
The gas pipeline is located in the Lower Silesia Voivodeship, in Zawonia and Krośnice districts.
Benefits
· development of gas surpluses from Germany,
· diversification of natural gas supplies to Poland,
· connection of the Wierzchowice Underground Gas Storage Facility with the Lower and Upper Silesia agglomeration,
· enhancing energy security,
· improving the reliability and flexibility of the entire gas transmission system in the region
The investment is also important in the context of connecting new sources of supply in north-western Poland and the possibilities of reversing the gas stream in the system depending on the needs. The gas pipeline will enable the replacement of solid fuels by gaseous fuel, particularly in co-generating systems, in the production of heat and energy. This will reduce the emission of gases and dust to the atmosphere.
Estimated value of investment: PLN 91 million
Legal basis
The project is based on the provisions of the Act of 24 April 2009 on investment projects related to the liquefied natural gas re-gasification terminal in Świnoujście (consolidated wording: Journal of Laws of 2016, item 1731). The gas pipeline has been included in the catalogue of projects accompanying the terminal-related projects, pursuant to the Act of 30 May 2014 amending the Act on investment projects related to the liquefied natural gas re-gasification terminal in Świnoujście and amending the Act on real estate management (Journal of Laws of 2014, item 906).
European Union subsidies
- On September 30, 2016 a contract was signed for co-funding the project entitled "Czeszów-Wierzchowice gas pipeline" by the European Regional Development Fund under the "Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2014-2020”. The value of co-funding obtained from the EU is over PLN 47.7 million.
- Based on the European Commission's decision on July 23, 2012, GAZ-SYSTEM obtained funding under the TEN-E program for the project entitled "Modernization of the transmission system in the Lower Silesia in order to increase the functionality and operation of the PL-DE cross-border line", including pre-investment works related to the Czeszów-Wierzchowice gas pipeline.
Project of Common Interest
In October 2013, the European Commission granted the status of the Project of Common Interest to the project. More information about the meaning of PCI status for the development of the gas transmission infrastructure is presented here and in the brochure on PCI projects.
Environmental consultations
The Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Wrocław announced that the decision on environmental conditions for the project named “Construction of a high pressure DN1000 MOP 8.4 MPa gas pipeline on the sections from ZZU Czeszów to ZZU Wierzchowice and from ZZU Czeszów to the Kiełczów node within the framework of gas pipeline construction: the border of the Republic of Poland (Lasów) – Taczalin – Radakowice – Gałów – Wierzchowice, together with the necessary supporting infrastructure in the Lower Silesia Voivodship” will be issued by November 28, 2014.
We encourage you to read the announcement of the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Wrocław.
