Decision on the building permit for two gas pipelines of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.

In December 2015 GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. obtained decision on the building permit for two key investment projects which are part of the North-South Gas Corridor backed by the European Union.

At the end of December 2015, the Podkarpackie Voivode issued a decision on the building permit for the high pressure gas pipeline on the Hermanowice-Strachocina route.

Last December, the Greater Poland Voivode issued two decisions on the building permit for a high pressure gas pipeline on the Lwówek-Odolanów route, STAGE I and STAGE II in the area of Greater Poland Voivodeship. The decision on the building permit was also issued last December by the Lower Silesia Voivode for the section of the gas pipeline crossing the Lower Silesia Voivodeship.

Both investments of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. have been implemented on the basis of provisions of the Act of 24 April 2009 on investments in the liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in Świnoujście (Journal of Laws 2014, item 1501 consolidated text as amended).

The Hermanowice-Strachocina gas pipeline with a diameter of 700 mm and approx. 72 km long will be located in Podkarpackie Voivodeship, in the area of 7 gminas (communes).  The estimated completion date of the investment project is Q2 2018. The estimated construction value of the gas pipeline is approx. PLN 296 m.

The gas pipeline on the Lwówek-Odolanów route with a diameter of 1000 mm and approx. 168 km long will be located in the area of the Greater Poland and Lower Silesia Voivodeships  (in the area of 19 gminas). The construction will take place in two stages:

• STAGE I involves connection of the Lwówek, Kotowo and Krobia network connection points (approx. 114 km);
• STAGE II involves connection of the Krobia and Odolanów network connection points (approx. 54 km).

The estimated completion date of the investment project is Q4 2018. The estimated construction value of the gas pipeline is approx. PLN 847 m.
Construction of the gas pipelines will increase the energy security of Poland and will be a major element of the North-South Gas Corridor.
Implementation of the investment will increase the capacity of the transmission system, increase the attractiveness of sites for new investments and increase the gas transport security in these areas.

An important asset for local communities will be the real property tax paid every year by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A at 2% of the value of the gas infrastructure located in the territory of a given commune.

In October 2013 the European Commission granted the status of Projects of Common Interest to both investment projects. Within Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2007-2013 the Lwówek-Odolanów gas pipeline received co-financing from the European Union at PLN 3.59 m for preparation of the design documentation.

Construction of the gas pipelines on the Hermanowice-Strachocina and Lwówek-Odolanów routes is also planned to be co-financed with European funds as part of Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020.

GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. plans to build more than approx. 2000 km of new pipelines in western, southern and eastern parts of Poland in 2015-2025. Further expansion of the national transmission network and creation of new pipelines as part of the North-South Gas Corridor as well as the construction of inter-system connections with Lithuania, Slovakia and Czech Republic will make a great contribution into the development of the European transmission system.
