The Lasów-Jeleniów Gas Pipeline obtained a permit for use

On 20 May 2015, the Head of the Lower Silesia Province issued a decision on granting a permit for use of the Lasów-Jeleniów gas pipeline.

The gas pipeline from the Lasów junction to the Jeleniów press, with a diameter of 700 mm and length of approx. 17.5 km, is located in the Lower Silesia Province, in the territory of the following communes: Pieńsk, Zgorzelec, Węgliniec and Nowogrodziec.

The construction of the Lasów-Jeleniów gas pipeline is connected with the extension of a system of transmission pipelines in the Lower Silesia Province, under the project entitled “Modernization of the Transmission System in the Lower Silesia Province for the purpose of an improvement of its functionality and optimum use of the connection between Poland and Germany”.

The completion of the investment will provide for the connection of the Underground Gas Storeroom in Wierzchowice with the agglomeration of Lower and Upper Silesia and for an increase of the national power security of the state.
The investment was implemented on the basis of the provisions of the Law of 24 April 2009 on investments concerning liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in Świnoujście (Journal  of Laws No. 84 item  700, as amended).

The construction of the Lasów-Jeleniów gas pipeline was financed from the Infrastructure and Environment Programme, under the project entitled “Modernization of the Transmission System in the Lower Silesia Province for the purpose of an improvement of its functionality and optimum use of the connection between Poland and Germany” for the amount of PLN 105.89 million.

The investment programme 2015-2023
The next stage of development of the Polish transmission system will be the construction of new gas pipelines as part of the North-South gas corridor supported by the European Union; this will allow for the full integration of the transmission infrastructure in this part of Europe. For that purpose, in 2015-2023, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is planning to build a total of approximately 2000 km of new pipelines in Western, Southern and Eastern parts of Poland. During the same time span, it is also planned to construct new pipeline connections with other EU states (e.g.  Poland - Czech Republic, Poland - Slovakia, Poland - Lithuania).

GAZ-SYSTEM is a strategic company for the Polish economy. It is responsible for the transmission of natural gas, manages the most important gas pipelines in Poland and owns the President Lech Kaczyński LNG Terminal in Świnoujście.

As part of the 2015-2025 investment programme, GAZ-SYSTEM is constructing over 2000 km of new gas pipelines in the western, southern and eastern parts of Poland. Over a dozen new gas pipelines are under construction within the North-South Gas Corridor and the compressor station in Kędzierzyn Koźle, as well as interconnections with Lithuania and Slovakia. Onshore gas pipelines are planned to connect the planned FSRU floating terminal in the Gulf of Gdansk with the national transmission system. The LNG Terminal in Świnoujście is also being extended, as a result of which the regasification capacity of this facility will be increased by more than a half.

The company is also implementing one of the most important infrastructural projects in the country - the Baltic Pipe project which consists in the construction of a two-way offshore gas pipeline connecting Poland and Denmark, expansion of the local transmission network and three gas compressor stations.
