Poland-Slovakia gas pipeline
The Poland-Slovakia gas interconnector project provides for the construction of a new cross-border pipeline which will connect natural gas transmission systems of Poland and Slovakia. Parties to the project are: GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and Eustream, the operator of the Slovakian transmission system. At present, the project is at a pre-investment stage.

Investment cost including works subject to funding:
- estimated value (studies): EUR 420 000
- funding under the TEN-E Programme (for both companies): EUR 210 000.
Under the Trans European Networks – Energy (TEN-E) Programme, the European Commission granted EUR 105 000 to each of the companies (GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and Eurstream), i.e. EUR 210 000, i.e. 50% of total costs of operations aiming at the preparation of analyses estimated at EUR 420 000, for the ”Preliminary feasibility study of a gas intersystem connector between Poland and Slovakia (the description of economic rationale and the preparation of a preliminary feasibility study)”.
In October 2012, Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. together with the Slovakian Operator, Eustream a.s., completed the economic analysis of the Poland – Slovakia gas connector. In May 2013, the work over the Feasibility Study was completed. The documents were prepared by GAZOPROJEKT S.A., which, to carry out the work, also cooperated with the consultancy company, Ernst & Young, and Slovakian GasTech s.r.o.
In May 2015 r. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and Eustream, a.s. signed a tripartite agreement with the European Union's (EU) Innovation Network Executive Agency (INEA) on the financial assistance of the EU to the Project "Preparatory studies and engineering works for the Poland - Slovakia Gas Interconnection". Under this Agreement, the Project was granted financial assistance of the EU at the level of EUR 4.6 million under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
The preparatory works of the Project were granted the maximum intensity of the EU financial assistance for studies – 50 %. Of the total amount, Eustream a.s. was granted EUR 2.33 million, and GAZ-SYSTEM was granted EUR 2.26 million. Total estimated value of the Action "Preparatory studies and engineering works for the Poland - Slovakia Gas Interconnection" amounts to EUR 9.2 million.
Projects of Common Interest
In October 2013, the European Commission granted the status of the Project of Common Interest to the project. More information about the meaning of PCI status for the development of the gas transmission infrastructure is presented here and in the brochure on PCI projects. Subject to meeting additional requirments, the project might also be eligible for the EU funding under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), which will apply under the European Union financial perspective 2014-2020.
