GAZ-SYSTEM About the Innovation in the Gas Sector at the Economic Forum in Krynica

- One of the priorities of GAZ-SYSTEM is the improvement of the efficiency of the company’s operation, which can be achieved by innovation - said Vice President Artur Zawartko during the “New Businesses in the Energy Sector – In search for Lost Profits” pane, which took place on 5 September 2018 within the confines of the 28th Economic Forum in Krynica Zdrój.

Vice President Zawartko stressed that GAZ-SYSTEM notices the huge potential of the diagnostics of gas pipelines and the benefits of the research and development activities.

- We want to make our co-operation in this sphere with the scientific centres operating in the sector closer. A few days ago, the winners of the INGA Joint Project competition conducted by the National Centre for Research and Development were selected. It was a good occasion for the dialogue between the world of science and the world of business, and to implement particular innovative projects in the gas sector - he said.

The Vice President of GAZ-SYSTEM also pointed out that the laboratories operating within the company provide a broad  range of gas quality testing and gas meters calibration services.

- It is a response both to the needs of the Company itself, and an offer addressed to end customers, distribution companies and all parties interested in that type of advanced tests - stressed Vice President Zawartko.

Artur Zawartko, the Vice President of GAZ-SYSTEM, also reminded that the decision on the expansion of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście, consisting i.a. in the expansion of the existing SCV regasification system with next units, was made this February. Thanks to it, it will be possible to liquefy 7.5 billion cubic metres of natural gas per year at the Terminal (comparing to 5 billion cubic metres at present).

The Economic Forum in Krynica is the largest and the most renown meeting of the representatives of the world of politics and business in Central-Eastern Europe. Its mission is to create favourable climate for the development of the political and economic co-operation in the region. This slogan of this year’s 28th edition was “Europe of Common Values or Europe of Common Interests”. The main organiser of the event is the Eastern Studies Institute Foundation.

GAZ-SYSTEM plays a strategic role in the Polish economy. We are responsible for natural gas transmission and operate the most important gas pipelines in Poland. As part of the 2015-2025 investment programme, GAZ-SYSTEM plans to build over 2000 km of new gas pipelines in western, southern and eastern parts of Poland. Further development of the national transmission network, including the construction of new gas pipelines making part of the North-South Gas Corridor, as well as the construction of interconnections with the neighbouring countries, will strengthen Poland’s energy security and make an important contribution to the development of the European transmission system.

The Company is implementing one of the most important infrastructural projects in Poland – the Baltic Pipe project, which consists in the construction of a bidirectional offshore gas pipeline connecting Poland and Denmark and the expansion of the local transmission network.

GAZ-SYSTEM also owns Polskie LNG, the operator of the President Lech Kaczyński's LNG Terminal in Świnoujście.
