GAZ-SYSTEM starts the process of consultation of a new model of tariffs for the National Transmission System and the Transit Gas Pipelines System (TGPS)

This year, in the period from 28 August to 31 October, GAZ-SYSTEM will for the first time conduct the process of consultation and approval of the methodology of the establishment of the reference price of the gas transmission service in the national transmission system and in the transit gas pipelines system.

Its purpose is to enable network users to better understand the principles of calculation of the tariffs of the transmission services, the changes of such tariffs, and the method of their establishment.

This obligation was imposed on GAZ-SYSTEM by the decision of the President of the Energy Regulatory Office issued on 16 July 2018, according to the provisions of Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/460 of 16 March 2017 establishing a network code on harmonised transmission tariff structures for gas (OJEU.L.72 of 17.03.2017).

Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/460 of establishing a network code on harmonised transmission tariff structures for gas (hereinafter referred to as “NC TAR”) contains the regulations concerning the method of establishment of reference prices and calculation of the base prices of standard capacity products.

The union-wide principles, the purpose of which is to ensure the market integration, the improve of the security of supplies, and to promote gas networks interconnectors, must be fully implemented by the Member Stated by 31 May 2019.

The purpose of NC TAR is to harmonise the structures of the transmission tariffs of the national operators of individual Member States, and to provide certain tools enabling the comparison of the transmission tariffs used within the EU, simultaneously ensuring the flexibility of the selection of the method of calculation of the reference price, enabling its adaptation to the maturity of given market and the complexity of given transmission network.

GAZ-SYSTEM plays a strategic role in the Polish economy. We are responsible for natural gas transmission and operate the most important gas pipelines in Poland. As part of the 2015-2025 investment programme, GAZ-SYSTEM plans to build over 2000 km of new gas pipelines in western, southern and eastern parts of Poland. Further development of the national transmission network, including the construction of new gas pipelines making part of the North-South Gas Corridor, as well as the construction of interconnections with the neighbouring countries, will strengthen Poland’s energy security and make an important contribution to the development of the European transmission system.

The Company is implementing one of the most important infrastructural projects in Poland – the Baltic Pipe project, which consists in the construction of a bidirectional offshore gas pipeline connecting Poland and Denmark and the expansion of the local transmission network.

GAZ-SYSTEM also owns Polskie LNG, the operator of the President Lech Kaczyński's LNG Terminal in Świnoujście.
