GAZ-SYSTEM Supplier Day

A strategic perspective of GAZ-SYSTEM development and extension of LNG Terminal in Świnoujście have been the main topics discussed over another Supplier Day, that was held on March 20, 2018. The CEO of GAZ-SYSTEM, Tomasz Stępień, and CEO of Polskie LNG, Paweł Jakubowski,  encountered contractors of design services, construction works, building control as well as providers of materials.

Tomasz Stępień, President of the Management Board, GAZ-SYSTEM, emphasized that the strategic assumption for organization’s infrastructural development until 2022 is the diversification of sources of foreign supplies. 

An implementation of the National  Development Plan for 2018 – 2027 will not only result in the increase in the supply diversification range, yet it also double the total of import capacity to the national transmission system -  he added.

According to him, the Polish transmission system will be able to play the crucial role in the integration and liberalization of natural gas markets in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. He also added that thanks to new infrastructural connections, the Polish market will become an important transmission state, open to gas suppliers, not only from EU, but from the entire world.

Paweł Jakubowski, the CEO of Polskie LNG, reminded that LNG Terminal in Świnoujście, has become popular among market players and its regasification capacities are 100% booked. 

Responding to the market needs, GAZ-SYSTEM launched the LNG Terminal Extension Program to obtain extra potential and functionalities.  The program comprises four projects: adding another units to existing SCVs, building the second quay, handling LNG with railway and constructing the third tank  – he underlined.

Moreover, he highlighted that in 2018 GAZ-SYSTEM is going to carry out key tender procedures, to cover all four components of the Extension Program.

Throughout the meeting the parties addressed the plans of investment, repair and restoration of the company for 2018-2020 as well as practical aspects of the purchasing process. 

We do care to establish a long-term cooperation with current suppliers and we can achieve it through the mutual communications and dialogue. Therefore, we meet our providers on regular basis – remarked Anna Bednarek, Head of Purchasing Division, GAZ-SYSTEM.

This year, 200 representatives from over 100 organizations participating in the company’s investment process, attended the Supplier Day organized by GAZ-SYSTEM.

Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is a strategic company for the Polish economy, responsible for the transmission of natural gas and the management of the most important gas pipelines in Poland. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is also the owner of Polskie LNG S.A., a company established to build the Świnoujście LNG terminal.
As part of its 2015-2025 investment scheme, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is planning to build over 2,000 km of new gas lines in western, southern and eastern Poland. Further expansion of the domestic transmission system, including construction of new gas pipelines being part of the North-South Gas Corridor, as well as construction of interconnections with Lithuania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, will enhance Poland’s energy security and contribute considerably to the development of the European transmission system.
In 2009-2015, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. completed an investment plan consisting in the construction of over 1,200 km of new gas transmission lines in north-western and central Poland. The projects implemented by the company and the physical and virtual reversal on the Yamal pipeline have translated into a significant increase in technical import opportunities on routes other than from the East.
