Over PLN 73 million in EU funds for GAZ-SYSTEM for the next gas pipeline

Over PLN 73 million from European Union funds was procured by GAZ-SYSTEM for the construction of the Czeszów-Kiełczów pipeline. The new pipeline is an element of the expansion of the gas transfer system in Lower Silesia as well as the assumed investment programme connected with the start-up of the  Świnoujście LNG terminal. It is also an element of the North-South Corridor, impacting the strengthening of Poland's energy security.
 
GAZ-SYSTEM signed a subsequent agreement with the Oil and Gas Institute - National Research Institute (Implementing Institution) for the co-financing of the Czeszów-Kiełczów pipeline project. It covers the construction of the new Czeszów - Kiełczów pipeline¬ with a 1,000 mm and a length of about 33 km along with the accompanying infrastructure. 

The new gas pipeline will be set up along the existing Czeszów – Kiełczów pipeline with a diameter of 500 mm, on the grounds of the Lower Silesian province in the Trzebnicki poviat (Zawonia commune) and Wrocław poviat (Długołęka commune). 

Expenses for the preparation of the project, which were refunded within the framework of the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2007-2013 were excluded from the co-financing agreement. However, expenses for compensation of landowners were included. The estimated value of the investment is PLN 132 million.

The co-financing was granted from the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme for the years 2014-2020 (IEOP 2014-2020), within the framework of measure 7.1 The development of intelligent systems for the storage, transfer and distribution of energy, priority access VII Improvement of energy security. In 2016 GAZ-SYSTEM received a total of over PLN 1 billion in co-financing from the European Union for the completion of its projects.
The Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme for 2014-2020 is a national programme supporting a low emissions economy, environmental protection, combating climate change and adapting to them, transport and energy security, as well as investments in the area of the protection of health and cultural heritage. This is the largest programme financed by the European Funds not only in Poland but also in the European Union.
 
GAZ-SYSTEM is a single person joint stock State Treasury company of a strategic meaning for the Polish economy. The company's key task is the transport of gas fuels via a transfer network all over the country to distribution networks as well as to final recipients, connected to the transfer network. By expanding the natural gas transfer system, GAZ-SYSTEM combines the expectations of its clients with the development of the company and the gas market in Poland.

The long term objective of the company's operations is building the position of one of the best functioning suppliers of gas transfer services in Europe.

Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is a strategic company for the Polish economy, responsible for the transmission of natural gas and the management of the most important gas pipelines in Poland. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is also the owner of Polskie LNG S.A., a company established to build the Świnoujście LNG terminal.
As part of its 2015-2025 investment scheme, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is planning to build over 2,000 km of new gas lines in western, southern and eastern Poland. Further expansion of the domestic transmission system, including construction of new gas pipelines being part of the North-South Gas Corridor, as well as construction of interconnections with Lithuania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, will enhance Poland’s energy security and contribute considerably to the development of the European transmission system.
In 2009-2015, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. completed an investment plan consisting in the construction of over 1,200 km of new gas transmission lines in north-western and central Poland. The projects implemented by the company and the physical and virtual reversal on the Yamal pipeline have translated into a significant increase in technical import opportunities on routes other than from the East.
