Completion of Podbeskidzie Region Capacity Facilitation Procedure

 

Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. hereby informs that as a result of the capacity facilitation procedure for the interconnector in the Podbeskidzie region announced on 18 September 2009, agreements for transmission services have been concluded with three companies participating in the procedure: Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA, Handen Sp. z o.o. and KRI S.A.

Thereby the Podbeskidzie Region Capacity Facilitation Procedure has been concluded.

Within the procedure, Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A and RWE Transgas Net, s.r.o., concluded a Cooperation Agreement in the scope of the aforementioned investment. The transmission services are set to begin in 2011.

The gas pipeline to the Czech Republic will be the second interconnector of Poland with a gas system of the European Union and shall enable the transmission of app. 500 million cubic meters of gas per year.  On the Polish side the gas pipeline will be app. 20 km in length and will run through the communes of Cieszyn, Hażlach, Dębowiec and Skoczów.  The planned length of the Czech part of the gas pipeline is app. 10 km.

Interconnectors will considerably improve the energy safety of the country and shall also represent a potential direction of emergency supplies. Interconnectors also enable free trade between the European Union states and contribute to a greater economic integration of the member states.
