Transmission Network Code

The Transmission Network Code (TNC) determines the rules for provision and use of the gaseous fuel transmission service, taking into account all legal and technical requirements contained in primary regulations and provisions pertinent to gas transmission.

The main task of TNC is to establish the rules for ensuring safe and reliable gas supply to consumers and maintaining a balance between supply and reception of gas from the transmission system. TNC covers the whole technical infrastructure managed by The Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and defines the laws and obligations of subjects participating in the process of gaseous fuel transmission.

The TNC is comprised of two parts:

  • Part I (General Terms of Using the Transmission Network)
  • Part II (Balancing and System Congestion Management)

On 19 November 2009 the Management Board of Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. adopted a resolution on approval of the contents of amendments to the TNC Part 1 and granting consent to the publication of the amended contents, and determining the date on which the amendments come into force as of December 15th, 2009.

On 17 December 2009, the President of ERO issued Decision DPK-7111-17(2)/2009, by virtue of which the validity date of Part II of TNC was extended to 31 December 2012.
