Integration with European gas tramsmission system
GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is actively participating in creation of an integrated gas pipeline network in Central Europe, thus contributing to the development of the European gas sector.
Our vision of development of the transmission infrastructure in Poland becomes an integral part of the European Union’s strategy to increase energy security and enable the diversification of natural gas supplies.
In 2011, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. commissioned new Polish - Czech interconnection, which enables the transmission of approx. 0.5 bcm of natural gas annually. Our Company is analysing the possibilities of new system connections joining Poland with Lithuania and with Slovakia. We are also preparing the construction of the Baltic Pipe, a project of a subsea gas pipeline connecting the transmission systems of Denmark and Poland. Further capacity upgrades of existing interconnections with Czech Republic and Germany are envisaged.
The development of the gas transmission networks in Poland may constitute an important element of the North - South Gas Corridor connecting the LNG terminal in Świnoujście with the planned Adria LNG terminal and Southern Gas Corridor project by intermediary of the transmission infrastructure of Central European countries.
